The design and construction of timber frames for a large private house

Timber frame was chosen for this project due to time constraints and the willingness of a client to consider the environmental impact of the construction of such a large property.

The use of timber, a renewable resource from sustainable forestry, for the structure instead of concrete and masonry has made a huge difference in environmental terms.

The use of sound attenuating techniques for internal floors and walls, used previously by us on school projects, means that the building performs as any other…..except better insulated and, with faster thermal response, cheaper to heat.
